January 14, 2018 - Not Easy, but I did it!

Today was he first workout since my injury.  It was a little challenging and hard to breathe.  Lisa said it's probably due to the hardcore pain medication.  Tomorrow I am going to use only Tylenol, so hopefully it won’t be so difficult. Fingers crossed!

Giving Crossfit the finger!

Well, it’s official I am an idiot.  Yesterday at the gym while doing overhead lunges I lost my balance, fell against a box. and dropped a 33lb weight bar on my hand.  The timing was perfect and the bar partially amputated the tip of my pinky finger.  It was a freak accident and careless on my part.  I should have positioned more distance around my work area. I am extremely appreciative of the support I received from my gym partners especially Rebecca for the ice and not passing out because it was pretty freaking gross.  John for patching me up. Sylvia for finishing the workout and tracking our rounds, even though Fen and I couldn’t finish.  Lastly, everyone who texted, called, and gave me a hug this morning when I showed up.  I have said it before, but it’s worthy of mentioning again our gym partners have been pivotal in our success.  The support and dedication they demonstrate daily is an inspiration for both of us. THANK YOU!

Chad and Rebecca - amazing coaches!

As you have read several times, we hate working out.  Unlike most Crossfiters Fen and I aren’t addicted.  We still hate getting up early, we still hate having sore muscles and mostly it’s really frickin hard.  The reason we keep going is because we need to invest in ourselves to be healthy.  By far, the best decision we made in 2017 was joining Crossfit La Mesa.  The support of the coaches and community has been a truly amazing experience.  We haven’t been able to go for the last 6 weeks and we really miss not seeing “our crew.”  Chad and Rebecca noticed we hadn’t been into the gym all weekend and texted us to make sure we were ok.  It’s amazing to have people that dedicated that they notice when we aren’t around...or perhaps they don’t have any friends.....💑   In either case it was pretty special!

It’s a new year, renewed commitment

Our last workout was New Years Eve.  The gym was closed and the hours were in conflict of our schedules, not to mention we are feeling under the weather.  Tomorrow is January 8 and we plan to get our asses kicked at 0530.

Goodbye 2017

Well, Fen and I did it. We have been going to Crossfit consistently since June.  We feel better physically and mentally.  We want to express our appreciation to our coaches and CF friends, especially the crazy-@ss 0530 folks.  Getting up so freaking early in 32 degree weather is ridiculous, but we love hanging out with you misfits!  You have helped us more than you know.  Our last workout of the year was a 25 minute AMRAP.  We did 100 V-ups, 60 burpees and 80 box jumps.  It wasn’t one of the hardest workouts, but when we were done we were tired and felt accomplished.   We are blessed to have our amazing friends.  We are looking forward to even more success in 2018!
