We pay to get TORTURED!

Image
Today was a pretty tough workout!  We had 5 rounds of running, Burpees, Squats and Lunges.  My legs were still killing me from my workout on Saturday, but I plugged along and I am glad I did.

Fen went on his own to the 0800 workout because I had to go to work early.

Wall Balls, Pull-ups & Man Makers ---oh no!

We continue to go to our Crossfit training at 05:30 because it's pretty warm after work.  I can't lie it's really, really hard to get up, but we are committed (or will be committed)! Again,  today I got dizzy and light headed.  Our coach told me I am probably holding my breath. My new goal is to focus on proper breathing.  Hopefully this will help with my endurance and mental clarity.  Hmmm...does that mean I need to stop being an airhead  or should I become an airhead???

Feel the BERN. - July 15

Image
Today was the partner AMRAP.  Fen was slacking off riding his horsey, but Bernadette and I were working our asses off! Bernadette, Fen and I started La Mesa Crossfit on the same day, June 11.  Bernadette has Crossfit experience, but life happened and she had a baby, so it was challenging for her to make it to the gym. Today was awesome day.  Bernadette was an exceptional and motivating partner.  As usual, my form was off and I was quite a bit slower than her, which made me feel bad.  I kept apologizing, but she was having it.  She told me to " stop apologizing". By apologizing I was filling my brain with negative thoughts.   All in all, we both had a great workout .  We challenged ourselves and each other.  I am hopeful we will partner up again.

Todays workout was mostly lower body.  This meant we did a bazillion squats.  To our surprise this was the first time we felt like we have become stronger.  I was a big dork and lost track of my 4th round.  This meant I did an extra round.

Setting Goals

I decided it's important to have long term and short term goals.  The long term is obvious, become healthier, feel better, become fit, not feel like i am going to die walking up the stairs. The short term goals need to be attainable and reasonable. 1.  Be patient, results will come 2.  Be consistent; no lame excuses 3.  Don't eat the elephant at once - scale when necessary 4.  Respect limitations, but don't give up 5.  Don't get brain "F-'d" - mind gives out before the body 6.  Understand sometime it's going to suck, get over it! 7.  Respect the journey, it takes time to master the skills 8.  JUST DO IT!!

Are they trying to kill us???

Holy Cow...what a weekend.  We have been going to the morning sessions because of the heat and humidity.   Saturday was a partner workout.  I worked with Deb and Fen worked with Charlie.  Although we like working as a team, Chad and Rebecca thought we would benefit by partnering up with other members who have stronger skills.  This would force up to not enable each other when we get tired.  We REALLY liked this strategy because we acknowledge we enable each other.   The Sunday workout was at 0900 and really hot as well.  Our legs were killing us from Saturday, so Sunday felt harder than the partner workout.                                                         NOW TO MONDAY It seems Chad and Rebecca don't like any of us because they tried to kill us!   We started with the 8...

My thoughts during Crossfit -

1.   Why did I get up, I was so cozy? 2.   I want to beat up the person who invented wall balls. 3.   I'm starving!   4.   I'm pretty sure squats and burpees will kill me. 5.   Oops - my bad!  I wore the wrong bra, I can't do box jumps or run. 6.   WTF - were we thinking? 7.   WTF - That movement is not normal in my life. 8.   Holy crap, I finished the workout, but going to be late to that meeting! 9.   We got this, we got this, we got this..... 10.  Chad said to eat, but he didn't say no cheeseburgers or fries! 11.   Or cheesecake! 12.   I'm going to throw up, no don't throw up, uhh yeah I'm going to throw up. 13.   My legs feel like rubber bands there's NO WAY I can run.   14.  Thank god I have a meeting this morning and can't finish the workout.

July 8 - Entering week 5

Rebecca posted this incredible picture on their website http://crossfitlamesa.com/ and I love it.  Sorry for stealing it, but it's too amazing not to add to my blog. Fen and I are getting stronger every day.  Getting up early to be tortured is not easy, but the way we feel when we leave makes it worth it.  Deb told me today it took her about a year to feel confident with the exercises and feeling healthy, but by 3 months she realized she had definitely changed her habits and physical appearance.  I'm looking forward to the 3 month mark.

Too busy to post -

Unfortunately the last few weeks I have been crazy busy and forgot to post our workouts.  The good news, we worked out!  During the last few weeks we progressed a lot and continued to go 5- 6 times each week.  Getting up at 4:45 sucks, but worth it because we are feeling a lot better both physically and mentally.  I forgot to take pics of the workouts we did, but I stole a few from the website.
